Week #4 Part A : Defining Target Markets
I selected one set of Subway and Hungry Bear. I looked up two different website to compare. I noticed that there are some target differences between each companies.
Subway
I saw a website of Subway. My first impression about home page was good. Good thing that they used a color of green mainly and white back color make the outlook simple. Another good thing is the call to action in the landings page. It is giving a discount or visible promoting code, so that people feel that they are welcome and people will buy a sandwich faster.
Unlike hungry bear.com, subway's website is more contents, I guess that is because subway is a chain shop. (Subway has approximately 41,600 locations in 104 countries and territories in June 202, and all independently owned.) There were four social media on the bottom of the page. Only black color used but they were noticeable.
Hungry Bear
There is a bear eating a sandwich, that is my first impression of the website. I never knew there is a sandwich shop like this. The website was easy made, not so much details in it. But it looks amazingly simple. There was no calls to action. They used four social media plus two mails. They were left bottom in my screen visibly and were able to access easily. This sandwich shop is definitely focused on people in local community in vista rather than a chain or internationally. I guess that a sandwich taste is better than subway for some people because of local sandwich shop and local taste.
Differences and Similarities
The obvious differences between them was targeting area. Subway is focusing on products (sandwich) and business in the world. On the other hand, Hungry Bear is focusing on people living local Community. As a business, they are doing exactly same. But, who they are selling for.
Subtle differences might be originality and how they use pictures they used. Subway show freshness of foods with descriptions. Hungry Bear didn't add any, just say that the best subs and sandwiches in San Diego.
About similarities, both Subway and Hungry Bear are selling a sandwich. They created an original website and an original logo. They both had some social medias to promote to sell products.
In conclusion, I would say that both Subway and Hungry Bear are good at their website, including original picture that they selected, the design that they made and writing as description. Hungry Bear is focus on staying small and doing best they can do to sell original sandwich vs Subway is selling a sandwich globally.
